Prepare for the unexepected

As part of our celebration of International Babywearing Week for 2009 we hope to help others prepare in the event you need to babywear in an emergency. That emergency can be anything from forgetting to bring a carrier to the beach or helping someone with an injured leg on a hiking trail to keeping your child safe during a disaster evacuation.

We will be demonstrating and practicing baby wearing with common household objects including: Sweatpants, a Beach Towel, a Button Shirt, a Sheet. This will take place during the second half of our celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at New Mother New Baby in Northbrook.

Please take a few min and watch the video demonstrations from Tracy Dower on You Tube. She crated these after Hurricane Katrina. Warning the video quality isn’t great and there is some wind noise but that’s OK!

Tracy also provides lots of great info on wearing your baby on her website. http://wearyourbaby.org/
